M.A. Social and Personality Psychology; University of California, Berkeley, 2005 B.A. Psychology, University of Texas-Austin, 2003 Her research examines how the interaction of one’s culture and personality predict important behaviors and life outcomes (e.g., interpersonal interactions; academic achievement; cultural values). Keywords: personality measurement; personality judgments; racial/ethnic identity development; acculturation processes; academic achievement. Laura Naumann was raised in Houston, Texas by her mother, a US-born Mexican American, and her father, who is half-German and half-Mexican. Initially attending school in predominately White neighborhoods, Laura struggled to understand her own ethnic identity and what it could mean to be bicultural. In college, she explored psychological theories related to identity development and became strongly identified as a Latina. In graduate school, she began conducting research related to racial/ethnic identity development and the process of acculturating with dual cultural identities. |
